Voice Repeaters

There are going to be 3 new repeaters in the Tri Cities area.

The 6 meter on 53.090 MHz is on hold at this moment so We can concentrate on getting the 443.150 and the 927.500 repeaters on the air.

The 927.500 MHz “system” has 2 300 watt Motorola PURC 5000 transmitters Located at Holsten Mountain and Viking/Bald Mountain with an additional receiver at Kingsport, Tennessee. Coverage should run from above the VA state line on I-81 to I-40 – I-81 junction. This repeater will have 100.0 Hz (1Z) encode and decode PL tone. Contact Robert KD4PBC or Bobby N4FV about what radios work well and convert/program easy. Don’t learn the hard way (like we did) !

The 443.150 MHz “system” with 3 transmitters and at least 4 receivers the coverage should run from above the VA state line on I-81 to I-40 past Knoxville. An open auto patch is planed. Everyone is encouraged to use the repeater. This repeater will also have 100.0 Hz (1Z) encode and decode PL tone.

You will never change frequencies or PL on your mobile just drive and talk !

This is being done with simulcast transmitters and voted receivers. Two of the three Quintron transmitters are slated for Holsten Mountain and Kingsport, Tennessee. The Motorola Spectra-TAC Voter and the 3rd Transmitter will be located on Viking/Bald Mountain (Thanks Bobby N4FV). There looks like there will be an additional receiver in Johnson City Somewhere any help getting a site would be appreciated.

I will post some info on Simulcasting soon for those of you that are interested.
